Growing Beautiful Hanging Baskets for the Village of Lumby

For the past three years, we have had the pleasure of growing the hanging baskets for the Village of Lumby. It has been rewarding to see these baskets become part of the community landscape and bring colour to the streets throughout the summer.

This year, we chose a stunning combination of purple and blue petunias. These varieties were selected for their long-lasting blooms, vigorous growth, and ability to create the full, beautiful baskets that everyone enjoys. The results speak for themselves—the baskets are lush, colourful, and blooming beautifully.

Creating successful hanging baskets is about much more than simply choosing pretty flowers. Selecting the right varieties is essential. Some plants are better suited for containers, heat, wind, and the demands of hanging baskets than others. The right combination of genetics, growing conditions, and care makes a big difference in the final result.

Last year, we heard feedback that the baskets were smaller than expected. We took that feedback seriously and made adjustments this season by selecting stronger varieties and focusing on producing fuller, more impressive baskets.

A big thank you goes to the two Village staff members who care for the baskets every day. Their dedication to watering, fertilizing, and keeping the baskets looking their best is a huge part of their success. Even the best-grown baskets need consistent care once they are out in the community.
