May Cause Radiance (young adult support group) has been partnering with Greenbush Greenhouse for an annual spring fundraiser for 3 years now.  We have returning customers each year who rave about how colourful and full their hanging flower baskets get.  Costumers love the variety of herbs that come in the herb bowls too.  Our fundraisers are a success each year thanks to the products Greenbush Greenhouse provides for us. 

I was born and raised in the Lawn and Garden Industry. My grandfather started our business in 1922 in Kelowna BC after moving here from Weyburn Sask. For 25 years (1972-1997) I along with my brother and Father ran our one-acre greenhouse operation along with our Garden Centre and Flower shop. Along the way one of my greatest passions was introducing young people to the industry and the love of plants in general. Over time many young people had their first job working with us and some are still in the industry while others moved on to different careers however these for the most part are still passionate about gardening. I loved seeing young people come in with their parents when they were shopping for plants. Some of these were simply there because they had to be and expressed very little interest in what their parents were doing spending the time running through the nursey often creating a bit of havoc. However, some expressed a keen interest in the surroundings and even asked questions about plants and gardening in general.

Sonja Peters was one of the young people. When Sonja came in with her parents to purchase plants, it was she who asked the most questions and I recognized at once she was a keener. That was many years ago and I have watched her since grow in passion and knowledge under several astute teachers and mentors. A few years ago, I was thrilled to hear she and her partner had opened a greenhouse operation in Lumby called Greenbush Greenhouses and Farm and have enjoyed watching it grow into a going concern. I know that with her experience in the industry and her work ethic, she looks after her customers interests with their needs in mind. The quality and value of her plant material is undoubtably stellar. I encourage the gardening community to support her endeavors and tap her vast knowledge and experience when they need this help.
